Second Steps Day Nursery Althorne are seeking a dedicated and passionate Qualified Nursery Practitioner (Level 2 / Level 3) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and a genuine love for working with children. As a Nursery Practitioner, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for children to learn and grow. You will be responsible for managing daily activities, fostering positive relationships with children and ensuring their developmental needs are met.
This position is 40 hours per week.
Duties:
- Observe and assess children's progress, documenting their development accurately.
- Plan and implement engaing activities that promote learning through play.
- Provide high-quality care and education to children in the nursery setting.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents and colleagues to foster a supportive community.
- Manage daily routines, including mealtimes, nap times and outdoor play.
- Ensure the nursery environment is safe, clean and always welcoming.
- Drive initiatives that encourage children's social skills, emotional development and independence.
- Exhibit leadership qualities by guiding junior staff and supporting their professional growth.
Experience:
- A qualification in Early Childhood Education / Childcare: Level 2 / Level 3 is essential.
- Previous experience working with children in a nursery or similar setting is desirable.
- Experience in leading small groups of children or mentoring staff would be advantageous.
