HGV / Plant Fitter
We are looking for an experienced and reliable HGV / Plant Fitter to join our team. This is a hands-on role working across a varied fleet of HGVs, plant and machinery, carrying out servicing, inspections, diagnostics and repairs to keep equipment safe, compliant and operational.
We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can work independently when required and is also happy working as part of a busy team.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs, plant and machinery
* Complete scheduled HGV safety inspections/PMIs to the required standard
* Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults
* Identify and rectify defects efficiently *
Prepare vehicles for MOT and maintain a high standard of roadworthiness
* Carry out preventative maintenance to minimise breakdowns and downtime
* Attend breakdowns when required
* Accurately complete job cards, inspection sheets and maintenance records
* Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard
* Maintain a clean and organised working environment
* Work closely with the transport and workshop team to keep vehicles and machinery available for operation What We’re Looking For The ideal candidate will have:
* Previous experience working as an HGV Fitter, HGV Technician, Plant Fitter or similar
* Good mechanical knowledge and fault-finding ability
* Experience with HGV braking, air systems, electrical systems and diagnostics
* Plant and hydraulic experience would be an advantage
* A good understanding of vehicle safety inspections and roadworthiness standards
* Ability to work confidently without constant supervision
* A practical, problem-solving approach
* Good attention to detail
* A reliable and professional attitude
An HGV licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
Relevant qualifications are desirable, although applicants with strong practical experience will also be considered.
