Join our dynamic Mill Cafe team as a Kitchen Porter and be the backbone of our culinary operations! The Mill Café is a successful local establishment that prides itself on the quality of its freshly-made food and barista coffee. It is part of the 5-acre Bodmin Nursery, one of the best plant nurseries in the southwest. In this energetic role, you'll play a vital part in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment. Your dedication ensures that chefs can focus on creating our popular dishes while you handle the essential tasks that keep everything running smoothly. Note that you will work as part of a rota that will involve some weekend work. This position offers an exciting opportunity to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced cafe, perfect for those passionate about hospitality.
Duties
- Assist with dishwashing duties to ensure timely turnover of clean crockery and cutlery for service
- Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including floors, work surfaces, utensils, and equipment
- Follow health and safety guidelines diligently to uphold our 5-star hygiene standards in the kitchen environment
- Generally assist with set-up in the morning and end-of-day clean down
- Ensure waste disposal is managed efficiently and recycling protocols are followed
Skills
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or catering environment is desireable
- Knowledge of kitchen safety standards
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced setting
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and hygiene
- Good teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards supporting colleagues
- Good clear communicator
