Old Down Estate is home to a busy café, wedding venue, corporate events, afternoon teas and seasonal celebrations. We're looking for enthusiastic and reliable Kitchen Porters to support our kitchen brigade during busy service periods.
This is an ideal role for someone looking to learn new skills, gain experience in a professional kitchen or take their first step into the hospitality industry. No previous experience is necessary – just a positive attitude and a willingness to work hard.
Working alongside our Head Chef, Head Pastry Chef and experienced kitchen brigade, you'll have the opportunity to learn how a busy events kitchen operates while supporting the preparation and delivery of exceptional food.
Due to our rural location, your own transport is essential.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of all kitchen areas.
- Wash pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and kitchen equipment.
- Assist with basic food preparation under the guidance of senior chefs.
- Help receive and correctly store deliveries.
- Ensure all work areas meet Food Safety and Health & Safety standards.
- Support the kitchen team during weddings, events and café service.
- Assist with setting up and closing down the kitchen before and after service.
- Dispose of waste and recycling appropriately and keep storage areas organised.
- Be flexible and willing to support wherever required to ensure the smooth running of the kitchen.
