Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Second Chef to join our culinary team in our newly renovated kitchen. The ideal candidate will assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, preparing high-quality dishes, and ensuring the smooth running of daily food service. Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in planning and executing daily menus, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Supervise kitchen staff during shifts, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient workflow.
- Oversee food preparation and cooking processes, maintaining high standards of presentation and taste.
- Manage food production, including portion control, ingredient quality, and timely delivery of dishes.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards across all kitchen operations.
- Support the training and development of junior kitchen staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with front-of-house teams to coordinate service times and guest satisfaction.
- Maintain organised workstations, stock levels, and proper storage of ingredients.
- Assist in inventory management, including ordering supplies and reducing waste.
Skills
- Proven experience in a similar role within a professional kitchen environment.
- Strong supervisory experience with the ability to lead a team effectively.
- Extensive knowledge of food production, preparation, and cooking techniques.
- Excellent understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate staff under pressure.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in all aspects of kitchen management.
- Experience in hospitality or restaurant settings is highly desirable.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and management.
