Deputy Manager – Bespoke Children’s Home
A role for someone who believes care is a calling, not just a job!
Some opportunities ask you to manage. This one asks you to make a difference.
We have established a regulated, bespoke Children’s Home built on a simple but powerful belief: that every child deserves love and care, even on the days when excellence is hard to deliver. Our culture is rooted in compassion, professional curiosity, and the unwavering conviction that the right team can transform a young person’s life trajectory.
We are seeking a Deputy Manager who embodies this ethos , someone who understands that meaningful care is both joyful and demanding, and who can lead with steadiness, empathy, and integrity when the work becomes complex.
About Our Home
Our service currently supports a wonderful young person with a diagnosed learning disability and additional complex needs. Their care is delivered through a highly specialised staffing model—4:1 during the day and 3:1 at night ensuring safety, consistency, and the capacity to respond thoughtfully to behaviours that may challenge. We do not minimise the complexity of their presentation; instead, we meet it with excellence, structure, and hope.
You will be joining a leadership and management team with significant experience in Children’s Residential Services. You will be supported, developed, and encouraged to grow because we believe that great leaders create great outcomes.
Your Role
As Deputy Manager, you will work in close partnership with our Registered Manager to manage the home with clarity, compassion, and ambition. Your responsibilities will include:
- Nurturing and developing a staff team who feel valued, confident, and inspired
- Overseeing rotas to ensure stability and continuity of care
- Updating support plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support frameworks
- Championing a culture where reflective practice is the norm
- Ensuring regulatory compliance while keeping the young person’s voice at the centre of decision‑making
- Contributing to a home environment where small successes are celebrated and difficult days are met with resilience and unity
This role is ideal for someone who wants to leave a legacy, someone who wants their work to matter.
What We Offer
- A caring, values‑driven culture where staff wellbeing is genuinely prioritised
- Continuous professional development and leadership mentoring
- The chance to strengthen the service from its early stages and influence future growth
- A leadership team who will stand beside you, not above you
- The opportunity to be part of a company striving to become a leading provider of Children’s Services
Who We’re Looking For
You will be an experienced residential practitioner or Deputy Manager who understands the realities of complex care and thrives in environments where compassion and structure work hand‑in‑hand. You will be emotionally intelligent, reflective, and committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Most importantly, you will be someone who believes that one young person’s future is worth every ounce of effort we can give.
As part of the compliance process, we will provide an excellent training package. As well as this, you will complete and enhanced DBS . The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years experience working with complex children, have an NVQ 3 in Children and Young People and be flexible in the need of being on-call.
