Fleet Manager – Edinburgh

Our client is seeking experienced Fleet Manager to oversee their urban delivery fleet, which includes vans and e-cargo bikes. You will ensure all delivery operations run smoothly, safely, and sustainably. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the fleet, ensuring that all vehicles are maintained, compliant, and operating efficiently. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and efficiency.
Job Summary
Core Responsibilities

Manage the scheduling and maintenance of all fleet vehicles to ensure optimal performance and compliance with regulations.

Develop and implement policies and procedures for fleet operations, including safety protocols and maintenance schedules.

Monitor fuel consumption and vehicle usage to identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.

Coordinate with drivers to ensure timely deliveries and adherence to routes.

Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.

Conduct regular audits of fleet operations to ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements.

Liaise with external vendors for repairs, servicing, and procurement of new vehicles as needed.

Train and mentor staff on fleet management best practices and safety standards.
Requirements:

Previous experience of managing a busy fleet is essential.

Van maintenance experience essential as training will be provided on electric bike maintenance.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Knowledge of vehicle maintenance processes and regulations governing fleet operations.

Ability to analyse data to make informed decisions regarding fleet efficiency.

Commercially aware with P&L accountability.

Excellent knowledge of the transport industry.

Proven experience in customer relationship management.

Strong evidence of management skills and making key business decisions.

Strong influencing skills both internally and externally.

Capability to advise and motivate team to deliver results for the business.

Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with drivers, vendors and management.

MS packages to include, word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
