IMPORTANT: Applicants must be available to start no later than 10 September 2026 and must be able to commit to working every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through to and including Sunday 20 December 2026.
BMR Solutions are recruiting for Skilled Mechanical Fitters to work for our client, a well-established engineering and manufacturing organisation based in Clevedon.
These positions form part of a new weekend shift, with assessment days taking place shortly and successful candidates progressing quickly.
Working Hours
The fixed weekend shift is:
- Friday: 12:30pm – 12:30am
- Saturday: 12:30pm – 12:30am
- Sunday: 12:30pm – 12:30am
34.5 paid hours per week
Each 12-hour shift includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
Applicants must be able to commit to all three shifts every weekend for the full duration of the contract.
You must be available to start no later than 10 September 2026 and work every weekend through to the final shift on Sunday 20 December 2026.
The Role
You will be responsible for the precision assembly and fitting of engineered systems within a structured, high-technology production environment.
The role will suit experienced Mechanical Fitters, Mechanical Technicians or Assembly Fitters with strong hands-on experience of building mechanical equipment and systems from engineering drawings.
Typical duties include:
- Mechanical assembly of machinery, cabinets and frame-based systems.
- Building mechanical sub-assemblies to high-quality standards.
- Working from detailed engineering drawings and schematics.
- Using a range of hand tools and mechanical fitting techniques.
- Supporting production targets while maintaining strict quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble mechanical components and engineered systems.
- Fit components including pumps, valves and motors.
- Work with hydraulic and pneumatic components and systems.
- Install industrial pipework and carry out basic plumbing activities.
- Build machinery, cabinets, frames and mechanical sub-assemblies.
- Work accurately from engineering drawings, schematics and build instructions.
- Use a range of hand tools and mechanical fitting techniques.
- Ensure completed assemblies meet required quality standards.
- Work independently and as part of a production cell team.
- Support electrical assembly activities where required and where appropriate.
- Work to production targets while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
- Follow relevant health, safety and quality procedures.
Essential Requirements
We are particularly interested in candidates who have:
- Proven experience in mechanical fitting, assembly or production.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience working with hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps and/or valves.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong practical mechanical fitting and assembly skills.
- Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a manufacturing team.
- Availability to start no later than 10 September 2026.
- Ability to commit to working every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through to 20 December 2026.
An engineering apprenticeship, relevant mechanical qualification or equivalent time-served experience would be preferred.
Experience supporting basic electrical assembly activities would also be advantageous.
Assessment & Start Dates
Assessment days are already scheduled and suitable applicants will be progressed quickly.
Candidates must be able to attend an assessment at short notice and be ready to start by 10 September 2026 at the latest.
Due to the nature of this dedicated weekend shift, applicants must be able to commit to the full Friday, Saturday and Sunday working pattern every weekend for the duration of the assignment, through to and including the final shift on Sunday 20 December 2026.
