Job Summary
Note: There are 2 positions available. It could either be 2 chefs doing 4 x days per week (3 days on there own and 1 day of overlap with the other chef), or 1x full time and 1x part time. We are open to both of these variations.
Provide nutritious home cooked meals to adults in recovery from substance misuse and maintain a safe and healthy environment. To work with other chef to manage daily budgets and ensure food requirements and standards are met and delivered. The Chef has to plan varied weekend menus for approval by the Centre Manager and where appropriate in accordance with clinical advice. Preparing and cooking nutritious meals, recognising the needs of the client group in general and accommodating individual dietary and religious requirements.
The role requires you to have
- Proven experience as a Chef or in a similar role
- Culinary degree or equivalent certification preferred
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment
- Excellent communication
- Attention to detail and a passion for creating delicious dishes
- Ability to work weekends, and holidays are essential as this post is for wednesday, saturday and sunday daytime.
- Cooking experience gained in establishments of at least a similar size.
- A thorough knowledge of kitchen and food hygiene and safe kitchen working practices.
- Experience of food ordering and stock control.
- An empathetic and non-judgemental attitude to those recovering from substance misuse.
- Ability to work well on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Ability to have an appreciation of and work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
Desirable criteria – Experience of residential work/community based rehab.
Responsibilities:
- Create and prepare high-quality dishes according to the menu and customer preferences
- Oversee and manage kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation
- Develop new menu items and specials
- Ensure that all food is prepared in a timely manner and meets quality standards
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations

Pay: £12.71-£13.50 per hour
Expected hours: 16.0 – 40.0 per week
