Job Summary
As the Planning Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating planning activities to ensure efficient scheduling, resource allocation, and execution of operational, maintenance, or project work. The role ensures plans are developed, communicated, and executed safely, on time, within budget, and in line with business objectives
Responsibilities
- Develop, manage and optimise short, medium and long-term planning and scheduling activities, ensuring work is effectively prioritised, resourced and delivered to meet operational, maintenance and project objectives.
- Lead, mentor and develop the planning team, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement and high performance.
- Coordinate labour, materials, equipment and contractor resources to maximise efficiency, productivity and schedule adherence.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, procurement and project stakeholders to communicate priorities, resolve resource constraints and ensure work is executed as planned.
- Monitor and report on planning performance, analysing KPIs, resource utilisation and schedule compliance to identify risks, trends and improvement opportunities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing planning processes, systems, workflows, reliability and cost effectiveness.
- Ensure all planning activities are conducted in compliance with HSEQ policies, company standards and relevant legislation, supporting risk management, audits and corrective actions where required.
What You'll Need To Succeed
- Degree qualified in Engineering, Operations Management, Project Management, Supply Chain or a related discipline, with relevant planning or scheduling certifications desirable (e.g. Primavera P6, APM, PMP).
- Demonstrable experience in planning, scheduling, maintenance, project or operational environments, ideally within industrial, manufacturing, mining, engineering or construction sectors.
- Previous experience leading, supervising or developing teams, with strong leadership and people management capabilities.
- Proficient in planning and scheduling software, ERP/CMMS systems (such as SAP, Oracle or Maximo) and advanced Microsoft Excel reporting.
- Highly organised with strong planning, analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of identifying priorities and delivering effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple functions and levels of the business.
- Able to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure to meet challenging deadlines and operational objectives.
