What You'll Be Doing
As Room Leader, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day running of your room while providing guidance, support and leadership to your team.
- Lead: Take ownership of the day-to-day running of your room, ensuring children receive high-quality care, learning and development.
- Inspire: Plan and support the delivery of engaging, creative and age-appropriate experiences based around children's interests and individual needs.
- Develop: Oversee observations, assessments and planning to ensure children's learning and development is effectively supported.
- Support: Lead, motivate and develop your room team, creating a positive and collaborative working environment.
- Mentor: Support colleagues with their practice, sharing your knowledge and helping team members to develop their confidence and skills.
- Communicate: Build strong relationships with parents and families, keeping them informed about their child's progress, development and wellbeing.
- Safeguard: Ensure safeguarding, health and safety and nursery policies are consistently followed.
- Organise: Maintain high standards of organisation, record keeping and compliance within your room.
- Contribute: Work closely with the wider nursery leadership team and contribute to the continued development of the setting.
We're Looking For Someone Who Has
- A Level 3 or higher DfE-approved Early Years qualification.
- Previous experience working within a nursery or Early Years setting, ideally with experience in a Room Leader or senior practitioner position.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and child development.
- A confident understanding of safeguarding and the responsibilities of a senior member of the nursery team.
- Experience supporting, mentoring or leading other practitioners.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A caring, positive and approachable leadership style.
- The confidence to take responsibility, make decisions and use your initiative.
- A genuine passion for providing children with the best possible start in life.
