Warehouse Operative / FLT Driver

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Warehouse Operative / Fork Lift Truck Driver to join our busy Logistics team based in Warrington.
This is a hands-on warehouse role involving the receipt, storage, picking, packing and despatch of materials and products. You will play an important part in ensuring goods are handled safely, accurately and efficiently and reach customers on time.
A valid UK-recognised Fork Lift Truck (FLT) operator qualification/licence is essential for this position.
NOTE: The role is a Fixed Term Contract of 12 months
Key Responsibilities
As a Warehouse Operative / FLT Driver, your responsibilities will include:
- Operating a Fork Lift Truck safely for loading, unloading, moving and storing materials.
- Carrying out FLT pre-use checks and reporting any defects.
- Receiving and unloading incoming goods.
- Checking deliveries against relevant documentation.
- Putting stock away safely and maintaining an organised warehouse.
- Picking and preparing customer orders.
- Packing, labelling and preparing goods for despatch.
- Loading vehicles safely and securely.
- Supporting domestic and international shipments.
- Carrying out stock checks and cycle counts.
- Maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Supporting stock replenishment and intercompany transfers.
- Using warehouse, inventory and ERP systems as required.
- Completing warehouse paperwork and electronic records accurately.
- Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
- Following all company procedures, policies and Health & Safety requirements.
- Reporting hazards, incidents, near misses or other safety concerns promptly.
- Working closely with colleagues across Logistics, Customer Service and Operations.
- Providing a professional and helpful service to internal and external customers.
- Undertaking other reasonable warehouse duties as required.
About You
We are looking for someone who is reliable, safety-conscious and takes pride in getting the job done correctly.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience working in a warehouse, distribution or logistics environment.
- A valid UK-recognised Fork Lift Truck operator qualification/licence – essential.
- Demonstrable experience operating an FLT safely and competently.
- Good knowledge of warehouse Health & Safety procedures.
- Experience of goods-in, picking, packing and despatch.
- Experience loading and unloading vehicles.
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to stock accuracy.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to use warehouse or inventory systems.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload.
- A flexible and positive approach to changing priorities.
- A strong work ethic and dependable attitude.

Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on warehouse position. The successful candidate must be comfortable:
- Working on their feet for the majority of the working day.
- Moving around a warehouse environment.
- Lifting and handling materials and products in accordance with company procedures and safe working practices.
- Operating a Fork Lift Truck safely within the warehouse and loading areas.
