Balfour Beatty is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to support the delivery of Temporary Site Services at Old Oak Common Station, a landmark station at the heart of the HS2 programme.
This is an exciting opportunity for a mechanically biased engineer to play a key role in delivering the temporary mechanical infrastructure that enables one of Europe's largest construction sites to operate safely and efficiently. Working alongside the Project Manager, you'll coordinate the installation, maintenance and performance of critical site services, utilities and mechanical systems while supporting project delivery from planning through to completion.
What you'll be doing
- Supporting the delivery of temporary mechanical site services across a major infrastructure project
- Coordinating mechanical installations, maintenance activities and associated subcontractors
- Managing temporary utilities, including water, drainage, pumping and other site service systems
- Monitoring construction progress and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to specification
- Planning and coordinating labour, plant, materials and specialist supply chain partners
- Reviewing engineering drawings, technical specifications and installation methodologies
- Contributing to short-term programmes, work schedules and project reporting
- Promoting a positive safety culture and ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards
- Supporting commissioning, testing and handover activities
- Working collaboratively with commercial, operational and design teams to identify project risks and opportunities
Who we're looking for
- Experience in a Mechanical Project Engineer, Mechanical Site Engineer, Package Engineer or similar role
- Background in construction, infrastructure, utilities, rail, M&E or major projects
- Experience managing mechanical installations and subcontractor activities
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and site-based engineering delivery
- Excellent organisational, planning and communication skills
- Knowledge of health, safety, environmental and quality requirements
- Experience using Microsoft Office and project reporting systems
- Experience on major infrastructure, rail or civil engineering projects
- Knowledge of temporary site services, utilities, pumping systems, drainage or water infrastructure
- Understanding of commissioning, testing and handover processes
- Familiarity with project planning, risk management and commercial controls
- HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
