Nursery Administrator – Thornbury Nest Day Nursery & Preschool
Thornbury Nest Day Nursery & Preschool is looking for a friendly, organised and experienced Nursery Administrator to join our growing team.
We are a warm, family-run nursery in Thornbury and are proud to offer a welcoming, personal environment where children, families and staff are genuinely known and valued. We are not a large corporate chain, and we want our administrator to become an important part of the nursery community.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within an early years, nursery or childcare setting and will understand the day-to-day administrative requirements involved in running a busy nursery.
This is more than a traditional office-based administration role. We are looking for someone who is happy to take on additional responsibilities, work closely with the Nursery Manager and leadership team, and provide practical support to the wider nursery team on a daily basis.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Supporting the Nursery Manager with the day-to-day administration of the setting
- Managing emails, telephone enquiries and general correspondence
- Supporting with parent enquiries, nursery visits and new child registrations
- Maintaining accurate child, staff and nursery records
- Supporting with funding paperwork, invoices and general financial administration
- Assisting with staff records, training information and compliance documentation
- Helping to maintain accurate safeguarding and safer recruitment records
- Supporting management with rotas, attendance records and general organisation
- Building positive and professional relationships with children, parents, carers and staff
- Helping ensure the nursery remains organised, welcoming and professional
- Supporting the management team with additional responsibilities as required
- Working collaboratively with the wider team during busy periods
- High organisational skills
As our nursery continues to grow and we prepare to expand into additional rooms, there will be opportunities for the successful candidate to develop their role and take on further responsibilities within the business.
What we are looking for:
- Previous administrative experience within an early years, nursery or childcare environment is highly desirable
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Confidence communicating with parents, staff and professionals
- Good IT and administrative skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- A professional, approachable and friendly manner
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload
- A proactive attitude and willingness to support the Nursery Manager and wider team
- Someone who enjoys being part of a busy nursery environment and building relationships with families, staff and children
- Knowledge of the EYFS and nursery administration would be advantageous
What we offer:
- 60% childcare discount
- Free on-site parking
- Training and professional development opportunities
- Opportunities for progression as the nursery continues to expand
- A supportive, family-run working environment
- Air-conditioned nursery rooms
- Regular company and team events
- A friendly and welcoming staff team
- The opportunity to build genuine relationships with our children and families
- A lovely nursery environment
- The opportunity to become an important part of a growing independent business rather than working within a large corporate chain
At Thornbury Nest, we believe that our staff are central to creating a happy and successful nursery. We want someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys supporting others and would like to grow with us as the nursery develops.
