Location: Muir House, Inverkeithing
Reports to: Chief Quantity Surveyor / Managing Director
We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join Muir Homes and support the successful commercial delivery of our residential developments. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused individual with strong experience in house building and groundworks to play a key role in controlling costs, managing subcontractor packages and supporting profitable project delivery.
The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the control and reporting of development and build-related expenditure across our housing developments. Working closely with Construction, Technical, Sales, subcontractors and suppliers, you will support the delivery of commercial objectives while ensuring company policies, procedures and reporting requirements are followed.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare and issue subcontractor tender packages, including domestic and civils packages.
· Complete tender analysis reports
· Manage subcontractor appointments, contract conditions, notices, applications, variations and final accounts.
· Prepare accurate development budgets, cash flows and projected final accounts.
· Maintain strong budget control throughout each development, ensuring cost allowances remain appropriate.
· Carry out regular site visits, site valuations and maintain development drawings and supporting records.
· Assess subcontractor applications, dayworks and variations in line with company policy.
· Work collaboratively with internal departments, subcontractors and suppliers to support effective project delivery.
· Ensure health, safety and compliance requirements are followed, including CDM Regulations and company procedures.
About You
· Previous experience in house building is essential.
· Experience in groundworks is essential.
· Experience in COINS system is beneficial.
· A relevant qualification or broad experience in Commercial Management is essential
· A broad understanding of the financial implications of the methods and sequences of build is essential
· Broad Finance / Commercial awareness & Technical knowledge is essential
· Broad knowledge of the wider Construction Industry – Preferred
· Broad Knowledge of commercial and financial management systems and controls - Preferred
· Broad awareness of codes of practice that impact commercial matters e.g. Building Regulations, NHBC requirements, HSE etc.- Preferred
· Knowledge of Construction Design Management Regulations – Preferred
· Organised, accurate and proactive, with the ability to manage deadlines and maintain high-quality records.
