This is a hands-on player-manager role. The successful candidate will personally own the scheduling, preparation, and profitable delivery of all service work, while managing two experienced field engineers.
This is an office-based role. The nature of the work — reactive scheduling, job readiness, and engineer coordination — requires full-time presence at our Thame office. Flexibility may be considered after probation forKey responsibilities
Key responsibilities
Scheduling
- Build and maintain the engineer schedule in Zoho FSM, matching engineer skills to job requirements
- Plan forward capacity across maintenance contracts, reactive callouts, and project work
- Resolve conflicts, cover sickness and absence, and re-prioritise daily as needed
- Communicate schedule clearly and promptly to engineers
Job readiness
- Confirm materials, parts, and equipment are ready before engineer mobilisation
- Complete and sign off RAMS for every job
- Issue customer joining instructions: access requirements, preparation needed, contact details
- Confirm site access, permits, and escort arrangements are in place
Job costing & margin
- Cost all jobs before execution: labour, materials, travel, subcontract
- Track actuals vs estimate throughout delivery
- Flag overspend or scope creep in real time — raise variations where needed
- Report job profitability weekly to MD
Delivery & closure
- Monitor active jobs — intervene on any delay or issue
- Ensure job sheets, test records, and commissioning certificates are completed and filed
- Raise billing triggers immediately on job completion
- Clear WIP weekly; no job left open without a reason
Engineering team management
- Direct line management of two senior engineers (UPS and electrical)
- Monitor performance, conduct, and utilisation
- Identify training, certification, and development needs
