Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation
- Prepare and present food to a consistently high standard.
- Maintain quality, consistency, and attention to detail across all menu offerings.
- Assist with monitoring stock levels, minimising waste, and ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Ensure accurate management of food allergens, including safe handling, labelling,and clear communication to staff and customers.
- Provide occasional operational support to catering activity at other Lakeland Arts venues as required.
Events & Function Catering
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of catering for in-house functions and events.
- Adapt to varying service requirements while maintaining quality and efficiency.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen.
- Ensure adherence to all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety legislation and organisational policies.
- Maintain accurate records, including temperature logs, cleaning schedules, and allergen documentation.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work effectively as part of a kitchen team, supporting colleagues when required.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with the front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service delivery.
Person Specification
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a professional kitchen.
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality food preparation and service.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining standards in a fast-paced
environment.
- Sound knowledge of food hygiene regulations and best practice.
- Strong understanding of food allergens and their importance.
- Food Hygiene Level 2 (or willingness to obtain within the first 3 months).
Desirable Experience & Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 Food Preparation and Cooking.
- Understanding of stock rotation and waste control.
- Good awareness of kitchen cleanliness and personal hygiene standards.

- Proactive and self-motivated: takes initiative and works effectively independently and

Additional Requirements
- This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week). The post requires flexibility, with regular weekend and bank holiday working, occasional evening work and on-site presence during peak service times.
- All duties to be carried out in line with Lakeland Arts’ Health & Safety, Equality and Environmental policies, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and reducing environmental impact.
