Manufacturing CAD Technician (Polyboard) – Fitted Furniture Industry
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Manufacturing CAD Technician to join our rapidly expanding team within the fitted furniture industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate manufacturing drawings and CNC-ready production information using Polyboard & Solidworks software for bespoke fitted furniture projects. Working closely with customers, designers & production you will ensure that all designs are translated into accurate & functional manufacturing outputs.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and develop detailed manufacturing drawings using both Polyboard & Solidworks software for fitted furniture projects, including wardrobes, home offices, media units, and other bespoke cabinetry.
- Convert approved design concepts and site survey information into production-ready technical drawings.
- Generate cutting lists, CNC machining information, and assembly documentation in the relevant file outputs to support efficient manufacturing processes.
- Review designs for manufacturability and identify opportunities to improve production efficiency and material utilisation.
- Liaise directly with customers, designers, and production teams to resolve technical queries and ensure project requirements are fully understood.
- Maintain accuracy in dimensions, material specifications, hardware selection, and installation requirements.
- Assist with troubleshooting production issues and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
Skills and Experience Required
- Proven experience as a CAD Technician within the fitted furniture, bespoke joinery, or cabinetry industry.
- Strong working knowledge of the Polyboard &/or Solidworks software and its application within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience generating CNC machining data and production documentation.
- Excellent understanding of furniture construction methods, materials, fittings, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to interpret design briefs, architectural drawings, and site survey information accurately.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to producing error-free documentation.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
