Hywel Dda University Health Board is seeking a dedicated Specialty Doctor to join our Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (SCAMHS) and Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team (CATT).
This role provides an opportunity to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care across hospital and community settings, supporting the prevention, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health conditions in children and young people. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to responsive crisis care and ongoing management of patients.
The post includes participation in the MHLD first on-call rota, with Consultant support available at all times (on-site during working hours and off-site out of hours).

- Contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of a comprehensive SCAMHS service across the Health Board
- Undertake timely and effective assessment and treatment of patients requiring urgent and acute mental health care
- Provide clinical leadership and support to multidisciplinary team members within the service
- Work collaboratively with clinical, medical, and managerial colleagues to ensure high-quality patient care
- Support and participate in teaching, training, and research activities within the organisation
- Engage in clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery
- Maintain accurate, high-quality clinical documentation and ensure effective communication across teams
- Monitor patient experience and respond proactively to feedback to improve care outcomes
- Practice in line with evidence-based guidelines, including NICE and National Service Framework standards
- Uphold professional standards in accordance with “The Duties of a Doctor”
Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.
