Responsibilities
- Prepare parts and materials according to specified surface preparation standards and paint-ready requirements
- Operate basic mechanical equipment used in parts preparation (e.g., abrasive blasters, sanders, degreasing stations), ensuring proper maintenance and safety checks
- Follow strict surface preparation protocols to guarantee contamination-free parts for wet painting
- Conduct quality checks on prepared parts, verifying surface finish, cleanliness, and dimensional accuracy using basic measurement tools
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas, adhering to health and safety regulations
- Assist with inventory management by accurately recording consumables used (abrasives, solvents, masking materials) and reporting shortages
- Support the team during production shifts by ensuring all prep tasks are completed efficiently and on time
Qualifications
- Knowledge of surface preparation principles and health & safety regulations in an engineering environment
- Experience with painting / knowledge of procedures
- Basic understanding of parts preparation processes and equipment operation
- Mechanical knowledge or experience with industrial equipment is advantageous
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow precise surface finish specifications
- Good numerical skills for measurements, mixing ratios, and record keeping
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced engineering environment
- Previous experience in parts preparation, manufacturing, or finishing is a plus but not essential; training will be provided
