Overview
IMH Recruitment are seeking to provide a dedicated and proactive Safeguarding Children Coordinator to join our client. The Safeguarding Children Co-ordinator job enables the Kirklees Safeguarding Children Partnership to identify and meet its responsibilities, with a focus on keeping abreast of new and current safeguarding requirements and their implementation.
The job will have a responsibility for the coordination of serious case reviews and practice reviews and audits and performance in Kirklees
Duties
· Interpret and report on legislation, government consultations and developments in professional practice relating to safeguarding children and assist in the development of strategy based on this knowledge.
· Implement local and national guidelines for carrying out serious case reviews, ensuring equitable multi-agency contribution, effective implementation of learning and evaluation of action plans.
· Co-ordinate the work of the Serious Practice Review Subgroup, ensuring that the Kirklees Safeguarding Children Partnership is fulfilling the statutory duty in respect of Serious Practice Reviews and Child Death Overview Panel.
· Develop and implement the programme for inter-agency safeguarding children audit, leading and jointly undertaking audits focused on agencies/subjects, to accord with and complement individual agency audit processes and agendas.
· Help identify, establish, monitor, and review practice and quality review standards against which inter-agency safeguarding children services can be measured/assessed.
· Review individual cases which raise concerns, reporting to the Kirklees Safeguarding Children Partnership and/or its constituent agencies on practice and performance issues.
· Ensure that the views of young people and families are reflected in policy, strategy, audits and serious case reviews and managed appropriately.
· Set up systems to review and monitor agency Action Plans and put in place a means of auditing action against recommendations and intended outcomes.
· Ensure that any lessons from cases and audits are understood and acted upon.
· Consider recommendations from major national reviews and implement any necessary recommendations and to produce briefing papers for the Board identifying practice and procedural implications.
· Work closely with Safeguarding and Effectiveness subgroup, Learning and Development and Local Procedures subgroups to ensure that recommendations from Serious Practice Reviews and performance reviews and audits are fully implemented and agencies can evidence lessons learned.
· Work closely with the relevant services and consider how best to address patterns and themes in both national and local reviews.
· Work with the Kirklees Safeguarding Children Partnership Manager ensuring that the Safeguarding Children procedure and practice guidance or protocols are updated, securing the requisite comments and approval and audit compliance.
· Assist in the preparation of the Kirklees Safeguarding Children Partnership Business Plan and Annual Report.
· Prepare and present reports for various meeting of officers and/or members including attendance at committees of other groups as appropriate.
Requirements
- Relevant professional qualification, or equivalent experience.
- Excellent knowledge of child protection / safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance, and procedures.
- Substantial experience of child protection / safeguarding.
- Experience and evidence of having undertaken audits and reviews.
- Excellent communication skills, using a variety of formats.
- Ability to influence and work effectively with a wide range of professionals in a wide range of agencies.
- Ability to set up systems and consultation processes.
- Ability to coordinate, collate and analyse complex information.
- Ability to work at a partnership level and demonstrate commitment to Equality and Diversity.
- Relevant professional qualification, or equivalent experience.
