Part-Time HR Assistant
About the Role
We are looking for an organised and approachable Part-Time HR Assistant to support the day-to-day HR administration within our manufacturing business.
This is a varied, hands-on role covering employee records, absence management, recruitment, HR documentation and general employee queries. The successful candidate will help ensure our HR processes are organised, consistent and compliant with current employment legislation.
The role would suit someone with previous HR or personnel administration experience who is looking for a flexible, part-time position.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and personnel files.
- Prepare HR documentation including contracts, offer letters, probation letters and other employee correspondence.
- Monitor sickness absence and ensure return-to-work documentation is completed.
- Support disciplinary, grievance, welfare and capability processes, including preparing letters and taking meeting notes where required.
- Assist with recruitment, including advertising vacancies, arranging interviews and communicating with candidates.
- Coordinate new starter documentation, right-to-work checks and induction paperwork.
- Monitor probationary periods and other key HR dates.
- Assist with leavers, including resignation acknowledgements and exit documentation.
- Respond to routine employee HR queries and escalate more complex matters where appropriate.
- Help maintain and update company HR policies and procedures.
- Support management in ensuring HR practices remain compliant with UK employment legislation.
- Provide general HR administration and support as required.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in HR administration or a similar personnel role.
- Organised and able to manage their own workload.
- Confident dealing with employees and managers at all levels.
- Professional and discreet when handling confidential information.
- Comfortable preparing letters and maintaining accurate records.
- Familiar with UK employment practices and basic employment legislation.
- Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.
A CIPD qualification or working towards CIPD would be beneficial but is not essential.
Hours
15 - 20 hours per week to suit candidate .
We are open to discussing how these hours are worked and could consider arrangements such as two full days or shorter hours spread across the week.
