Thame, Oxfordshire (Hybrid – 3 days in the office, 2 days from home)
Salary: £55,000 per annum
Working hours: Monday to Friday 09:00 – 17:00
Ready for a finance role that will genuinely stretch and develop you?
We're looking for an ambitious and resilient Accountant to join our Finance team in Thame. This isn't a role for someone looking for a quiet, predictable position with well-established processes. We're going through a significant period of change across both the business and finance function, creating a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving processes and making a real impact.
If you're the type of person who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys getting stuck into the detail, isn't afraid of rolling up your sleeves and sees challenge as an opportunity rather than a problem, we'd love to hear from you.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting business growth, driving improvements and providing valuable insight to stakeholders across the organisation.
Requirements
What you'll be doing
-
Managing month-end balance sheet reporting, reconciliations and reporting submissions within demanding deadlines.
-
Producing monthly actuals, forecasts and budgets, supported by meaningful analysis and commentary.
-
Partnering with commercial stakeholders to support business performance and growth.
-
Creating and maintaining reports, dashboards and financial models that drive decision making.
-
Becoming a key reporting expert within the finance team.
-
Analysing historical performance data and providing recommendations for future improvements.
-
Supporting internal and external audits.
-
Acting as a finance lead on ERP system developments and process improvements.
-
Working closely with colleagues across the business to improve compliance, efficiency and reporting accuracy.
What we're looking for
We're interested in people who are qualified by experience, part-qualified (ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) or working towards a qualification.
More importantly, we're looking for someone who:
✅ Has at least 5 years' experience in an accounting or finance role.
✅ Has advanced Excel skills, including complex modelling and data analysis.
✅ Has strong Power BI experience and can build meaningful dashboards and reporting solutions.
✅ Is comfortable working with manual processes while helping to improve them.
✅ Thrives in environments experiencing change and transformation.
✅ Can remain calm, organised and focused when working to tight deadlines.
✅ Communicates confidently with stakeholders at all levels and can explain financial information in a straightforward way.
✅ Takes ownership, works independently and gets things done.
✅ Enjoys challenge, development and continuous improvement.
✅ Has experience of process mapping, systems improvement or change management.
A bit about the environment
To be transparent, this role comes with plenty of opportunity and challenge.
You'll be joining a department that is evolving, where some processes are still developing and where finance is highly visible across the business. As a visible member of the finance team, you'll collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation, providing financial insight and support. Success in the role will come from building strong relationships, communicating effectively and helping others understand the story behind the numbers.
For the right person, this creates an excellent platform for learning, development and career growth. You'll have the opportunity to influence change, shape new ways of working and make a genuine difference.
Location
This is a hybrid role based in Thame, with the expectation of being in the office three days per week and working from home two days per week. Applicants should ideally live within approximately one hour's commute of the office.
