Forever Young People is looking for experienced youth mentors to provide 1:1 community based support within Hertfordshire. Sessions typically range from 2–15 hours per week per young person, and may be short or long-term depending on need.
We are particularly keen on to recruiting MALE mentors who are able to work positively and proactively with teen boys who may be at risk of exclusion, already excluded from school, attending alternative provision or at risk of youth justice involvement.
Working within Hertfordshire, this is a relationship-led mentoring role, not simply an activities and learning based position. You will provide positive role modelling, build trust, set clear boundaries and help young people develop confidence, emotional regulation, positive routines and better choices.
You may work with young people who are disengaged from education, present challenging behaviour or are reluctant to engage with professionals. Sessions are community-based and may include activities to support life skills and learning.
Many of our young people have:
- SEMH needs
- Autism / ADHD
- Trauma and adverse childhood experiences
- Behaviour that can be challenging at times
We are particularly interested in applicants with experience in youth work, behaviour mentoring, alternative provision/PRU, secondary education, SEMH, youth justice, community work or sports coaching with mentoring experience.

Sessions take place in the community, not just in classrooms—so you must be comfortable working in real-world environments where adaptability and confidence are essential.
Essential Requirements
- Right to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS (on update service or willing to obtain)
- Safeguarding & First Aid (or willingness to complete)
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Business insurance
- Public liability insurance
- Ability to travel across Hertfordshire (and surrounding areas where required
Pay & Flexibility
- £20ph (depending on experience and complexity of work)
- Mileage paid at 0.45p per mile
