Join us as a Crisis Hub Volunteer and be part of a dynamic team providing vital support to individuals across the UK during times of emergency, crisis, or major incidents. In this remote role, you will offer much-needed telephone support to those directly or indirectly affected by distressing events. Your ability to listen actively, think clearly under pressure, and respond with care and professionalism will help people when they need it most. You’ll be a key part of a forward-thinking, resilient, and responsive team, committed to delivering outstanding service – first time, every time. We would like you to: - Be available to volunteer on a regular basis. - Be available to volunteer for a minimum of 8 to 9 hours each month. - Be able to commit to volunteering for a minimum of 12 months. - Have access to a computer (minimum Windows 11), a mobile phone and an optional headset. - Have strong IT skills and be able to use multiple platforms simultaneously. Why we want you: As a Crisis Hub Volunteer, you will represent the British Red Cross. You will be part of our Crisis Hub, which supports people in need across the United Kingdom. You will be part of a team giving much needed telephone (remote) support to people who have been directly and indirectly effected by a major incident, emergency or crisis. Your skills of expressing compassion, empathy, active listening, considered thinking, engaging demeanour, and professional approach, will be key – as you will be helping those in need. Tasks: Provide remote support before, during and after individual and/or largescale crises/emergency responses.
Provide practical and emotional assistance to people and communities effected by an emergency.
Signpost internally and externally to services for specialised support .
Be adaptable to the needs of the British Red Cross by assisting during high demand, when we need to increase capacity at short notice, or when we need to support after a major event.
