Jacksons Nurseries is a family-run garden centre, tea room and farm shop with plants at its heart. Now in its third generation of family ownership, the business is entering an ambitious period of growth — and web sales are central to it. We are currently re-platforming our website onto Shopify, so the successful candidate joins at a genuinely exciting moment, with the chance to help shape the continued growth and evolution of our web sales department.
The role
We are looking for a Web Sales Office Manager to take ownership of our office-based web sales operation. You will lead a team of three and oversee everything from the moment an order arrives to the moment it leaves with the courier and after-sales service. You will report directly to the owner-manager, with real influence over how the department develops.
Key responsibilities
Team leadership — Manage, motivate and develop a team of three. Organise workload and cover, set standards, and keep the office running smoothly through seasonal peaks.
Order processing and fulfilment — Oversee the accurate and timely processing of plant orders placed online and by phone for nationwide delivery.
Customer service — Own the department’s incoming calls and emails: taking orders over the phone, handling “where is my order” enquiries, resolving issues and giving customers genuinely useful help and advice (some existing plant and gardening knowledge is useful but not essential).
Courier and dispatch — Manage dispatch end to end, including producing courier box labels, booking and managing collections, and resolving any delivery problems with our carriers.
Systems and stock — Learn and get the most from our Open Retail EPOS system and our new Shopify back end, including new product upload, listing quality and stock management.
Growth and improvement — Work with the owner-manager to improve processes and service levels, and to support the transition to the new website.
About you
Essential
- Experience of leading or supervising a small team, ideally in a customer-facing or office environment
- Confident, professional telephone manner and clear written communication
- Strong organisational skills, with accuracy and attention to detail under seasonal pressure
- Comfortable with computer systems and quick to pick up new software
- Hands-on, calm and solutions-focused
Desirable
- Experience with e-commerce platforms (Shopify especially), EPOS or order management systems
- Experience of courier or dispatch operations
- Plant or horticultural knowledge, or a real enthusiasm to learn

Pay: £28,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
