Are you an experienced acute care nurse with oncology or haematology experience who is ready to develop within a highly specialist service?
Join our Stem Cell Transplant Unit and support patients through some of the most complex and important stages of their treatment. You will combine advanced clinical care with the personal relationships that make nursing so rewarding, providing reassurance, dignity and continuity to patients and their families throughout their care.
A little about the role
As a Staff Nurse, you will act as the named nurse for your patients, taking responsibility for assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating individualised care.
You will work closely with experienced nurses, consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team, caring for patients with complex haematological and oncological needs. You will advocate for patients, help them understand their treatment and make sure their physical, psychological and social needs are supported.
You will also be encouraged to strengthen your specialist knowledge, develop your chemotherapy and transplant competencies and contribute to the continued development of the service.
What you’ll be doing

Deliver high quality, evidence based nursing care to patients with oncological and haematological needs.
- Assess patients holistically and plan, implement and evaluate individualised care.
- Administer systemic anti cancer treatment safely and maintain competence in the management of cytotoxic medicines.
- Work closely with patients, families, consultants and multidisciplinary colleagues to support safe, coordinated care.
- Maintain clear, accurate and confidential nursing records using relevant clinical systems.
- Support new colleagues and contribute to team meetings, clinical audit, research and service improvement.
- Complete the oncology and haematology training pathway and maintain all required clinical and mandatory competencies.
- Participate in the Duchess of Devonshire Wing bleep holder scheme once appropriately trained.
What we’re looking for

A Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
- At least one year of post registration experience in an acute setting.
- Oncology or haematology nursing experience and a sound understanding of acute nursing care.
- A cancer foundation course and haematology course, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- A recognised chemotherapy administration qualification, such as ENB 237/998, UKONS SACT or equivalent.
- Experience with central venous access devices and phlebotomy.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to organise and prioritise your workload effectively.
- Experience in malignant haematology or stem cell transplantation would be an advantage, along with knowledge of stem cell transplant pathways, JACIE FACT standards, CAR T cell therapy and chemotherapy protocols for haematological malignancies.

Our Stem Cell Transplant Unit is based on Level 4 of the Duchess of Devonshire Wing, The London Clinic’s specialist cancer centre. The department cares for patients undergoing stem cell transplantation and other specialist treatments for complex haematological and oncological conditions.
You will join a knowledgeable and committed team that takes a holistic approach to care and works closely together to support every stage of the patient journey. Learning is an important part of the department, with opportunities to develop your knowledge of transplant care, chemotherapy, central venous access devices and emerging treatments.
