We're currently in the process of building a new warehouse, store and modern seed cleaning and processing plant and are looking for passionate agricultural, manufacturing and technical professionals to join us on that journey.
Job Description -
- The Quality Control Operative is responsible for supporting the Technical team by performing Quality Assurance samples, checking products against customer specifications, ensuring samples are handled, recorded and stored correctly and results are escalated back to operators, the Laboratory Supervisor and the management team.
- Reporting directly to the Laboratory Supervisor, the Quality Control Operative will have responsibility for samples and testing, including buyback, Intake, production, Open Market and Container samples. On all products in accordance with our documented lab procedures.
- Recording all analysis results in Excel and our QMS, providing feedback to the Technical, Operations and Commercial team.
- Support with production and technical specifications, review and assigning of stock.
- Preparing samples for approval by customers, and for external testing.
- Attending and inspecting 3rd party warehouse and stores, collecting samples from store and farm (company vehicle provided for travel).
- Performing internal quality control and calibration on laboratory equipment.
- Supporting with non-conformance and customer complaint investigation.
- Supporting with maintaining the companies audit status (BRCGS, Red Tractor, Organic, TASCC, etc..)
- Housekeeping of the laboratory, rotating and disposing of samples inline with their shelf life. Maintaining the cleanliness and GMP of the laboratory environment.

- A good communicator who is comfortable speaking with a variety of stakeholders both in Operations, Management, Customers and with Suppliers.

This role is based at our brand new Seed Plant we're building on Spalding Road, in Bourne, Lincolnshire. The role would suit someone with a keen eye for detail, and a passion for pulses and agriculture. The position will be on the forefront of product quality, sampling and analysis ensuring our product always meets the customers specification and requirements.
We're looking for someone who is proud about what they do, and brings genuine passion and energy to a role. For the right candidate there is clear progression available in both responsibility, salary and qualification. With opportunities to qualify as a Licensed Seed Sampler and later even a Licensed Seed Analyst.
The role would require technical sampling, pulse (beans, peas, legumes) analysis as well as some travelling to stores and supplier sites for audits and sample collections. There is some heavy lifting required in moving samples, and products around (often 25kg sacks) so reasonable physical fitness is required for the position.
A good level of computer literacy is expected, as well as good written and spoken English so that you can complete the required documents, paperwork and respond to customer queries via email and by telephone. At least basic competency with word, excel, outlook etc is required, and specific training will be provided on using the companies quality management system.
Experience / Qualifications -
- Level 2 Food Safety / HACCP - Desirable .
- Previous experience in food manufacturing / Seed or Harvest Laboratory type environment. - Required.
- Scientific / Chemistry / Biology experience or qualification to A-Level - Desirable.
