Main responsibilities:
Process referrals and with appropriate supervision analyse the information gained to recommend an outcome.
Undertakes holistic enquiries and assessments under Section 17 of the Children Act and with appropriate supervision determine actions and interventions to meet the safeguarding and welfare needs of children in need and children in need of protection.
With appropriate supervision and close liaison with families, other agencies and services formulate and implements plans to meet the assessed needs of disabled children and their families and carers.
Work in partnership with families and other agencies to provide a range of Social Work interventions to ensure that the assessed needs of children and their families and carers are met in the most appropriate way.
Maintain all case records in line with departmental policy and uses computer systems and other communication systems as required.
With appropriate supervision manage a caseload to include Children in Need, Children in Need of Protection and Children in Care.
Work within legislation and departmental policies and procedures to the required standards in assessing and meeting the needs of disabled children and their families and carers.
Ensures the views, wishes and feelings of children and their families and carers are taken into account when formulating and implementing plans, utilising alternative communication methods to ensure that all children and young people are supported to have a voice.
With supervision and support undertake statutory supervision and case planning for children who are subject to public law orders (i.e., ‘in care’ or subject to supervision orders).
With supervision and support undertake assessments and prepare statements for court in respect of Private Law Proceedings.
To work with children, young people and their families and services to ensure planned transitions at all stages; to include transition to adulthood and transition between plans i.e., child protection to child in need, child in need to early help.
