Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to support the daily operations of our childcare centre. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for working with children and fostering a nurturing environment. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to early childhood development while ensuring the smooth running of our nursery. The Deputy Manager will work closely with the management team, staff, children, and parents to uphold high standards of care and education.
Duties
- Assist the Manager in overseeing daily nursery operations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Support the planning and implementation of educational programmes aligned with early childhood education principles
- Supervise and motivate staff, promoting a positive team environment centred on professional development and teamwork
- Engage with children to promote their wellbeing, development, and learning through organised activities and play
- Maintain effective communication with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns
- Ensure health and safety policies are adhered to at all times, including risk assessments and safeguarding procedures
- Organise staff rotas, manage attendance records, and assist in recruitment processes when necessary
- Support the organisation of nursery events and activities that enhance children's social skills and community involvement
- Drive organisational initiatives to improve service quality and operational efficiency
Qualifications
- Proven experience in childcare settings, preferably within nurseries or early childhood education environments
- Strong management and leadership skills with previous supervisory experience
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Working knowledge of childcare regulations, safeguarding policies, and health & safety standards
- Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent are highly desirable
- Experience working with children of various ages, including infants and toddlers
- Valid driving licence is advantageous for operational flexibility
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team whilst demonstrating initiative and organisational skills

Pay: £15.00-£20.00 per hour
