About O&J Group
O&J Group is an MEP contractor delivering electrical and mechanical projects across London and the surrounding areas.
We work across a range of commercial and healthcare environments, delivering installations, refurbishments, upgrades and associated building services works.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Electrician to join our team. This position would particularly suit someone who is looking to develop their career and progress into an Electrical Supervisor role.
The Role
You will work as part of our electrical team across commercial and healthcare projects, carrying out electrical installations to a high standard while working closely with our Site Supervisors, Project Managers and mechanical teams.
As you develop within the business, you will be given increased responsibility with the aim of progressing into a supervisory position.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical installations on commercial and healthcare projects.
- Install containment systems including tray, basket, trunking and conduit.
- Install LV power, lighting and small power systems.
- Install and terminate SWA, singles and multicore cabling.
- Install distribution boards and associated electrical equipment.
- Carry out modifications and upgrades to existing electrical installations.
- Work within live and operational buildings where required.
- Carry out safe isolation and follow company electrical safety procedures.
- Read and work from electrical drawings, specifications and schedules.
- Coordinate electrical works with mechanical services and other trades.
- Identify installation issues and report these to the Site Supervisor or Project Manager.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, housekeeping and health & safety.
- Assist with testing, commissioning and completion of electrical installations.
- Complete relevant site documentation when required.
Progression to Electrical Supervisor
We are looking for someone who wants more than simply an electrician's position.
For the right candidate, we will provide the opportunity to develop towards an Electrical Supervisor role, including increased responsibility for:
- Supervising electrical operatives and subcontractors.
- Planning and coordinating daily site activities.
- Allocating labour and monitoring productivity.
- Reviewing drawings and identifying installation requirements.
- Coordinating electrical works with mechanical services and other trades.
- Monitoring quality and ensuring installations meet project specifications.
- Carrying out site inspections and identifying defects.
- Managing materials and reporting procurement requirements.
- Attending site coordination meetings.
- Liaising with Project Managers, clients and other contractors.
- Assisting with RAMS, permits, progress reporting and project documentation.
- Managing works through testing, commissioning, snagging and handover.
Experience & Qualifications
The successful candidate should ideally have:
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent.
- ECS/JIB Gold Card.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Good knowledge of BS 7671.
- Experience working on commercial electrical installations.
- Experience within healthcare environments would be advantageous.
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings.
- Good understanding of electrical containment, power and lighting systems.
- Strong health & safety awareness.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider MEP team.
Testing & Inspection qualifications would be advantageous but are not essential.
SSSTS or similar supervisory training would also be advantageous; however, support can be provided to the right candidate as they progress towards a supervisory role.
