We insure small businesses and enable big dreams – not just for our customers, but for our people and communities too. With over 1,000,000 active insurance policies, we protect builders, bakers, landlords and more than 1,200 other trades.
We’re a technology company as well as one that sells insurance. That means we build, we fail, we learn and we improve. Through our global social impact strategy, called 'The Big Dreams Project’, we're working to help 10,000 small businesses start or grow by 2030.

As a Senior Technical Pricing Analyst at Simply Business, you will step away from traditional, sluggish insurance models and lead our MGA pricing strategy from our tech-first London hub. We are completely bypassing legacy processes to apply sophisticated statistical techniques and machine learning to high-frequency data, keeping us steps ahead in the fast-paced small business market.
What makes this role different from other technical pricing positions is the sheer scale of impact and autonomy you will enjoy. You won't just be tucked away building isolated models; you will have complete ownership over your analyses, collaborate directly with underwriting and data science teams, and see your data-driven recommendations transform directly into live market actions. Plus, you'll play a vital role in building a world-class analytics function by mentoring junior analysts and supporting the Head of MGA Pricing.
Monitor the performance and health of the MGA portfolio from a risk perspective to ensure long-term, sustainable profitability.
Contribute to the production and maintenance of technical risk pricing models using Python, R, SQL, and advanced pricing tools like Earnix, Akur8, or Emblem.
Identify emerging market trends and recommend proactive price adjustments to protect our leading position without negatively affecting loss ratios.
Evaluate new product propositions to identify potential profitability and set the optimal price points for successful market entry.
Transform complex datasets into actionable insights and enhanced dashboards for underwriting footprint reviews.
Support the development of the wider pricing function through active training, coaching, and mentorship of junior colleagues.
Highly numerate with a degree in a discipline like Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or Physics.
Experienced in a statistical or analytical role within the general insurance industry, with an understanding of portfolio risk.
Proficient in data manipulation and statistical modelling using tools like SQL, R, or Python, and familiar with pricing software like Earnix, Akur8, or Emblem.
An excellent communicator who can comfortably present complex technical findings to non-technical business partners.
A self-motivated, proactive worker who enjoys managing their own workload and delivering high-quality results to tight deadlines.
A collaborative teammate who can build strong relationships across data science and underwriting teams to achieve shared goals.
(We know it’s tough, but please try to avoid the confidence gap. You don’t have to match all the bullet points above to be considered for this role.)
We encourage people of all different backgrounds and identities to apply. We are committed to maintaining an inclusive, supportive place for you to be you and do your very best work.
By sharpening our pricing strategy and driving technical innovation, you will ensure we provide small businesses with the fair, competitive protection they need to thrive. Ready to make a real-world impact and help us enable big dreams for small businesses? Apply today.
