Member Experience & Trial Journey Assistant
Phoenix Martial Arts Academy — Chelmsford
Phoenix Martial Arts Academy is looking for a confident, organised and reliable person to help manage our class arrivals, trial students, parent communication and basic admin during evening classes.
This is not a passive reception role.
You will be responsible for making sure new students and parents feel welcomed, informed and guided through their first experience at Phoenix. You will help manage trial arrivals, forms, check-ins, parent questions, follow-ups, new member admin and selling and closing operations.
You do not need martial arts experience.
You do need to be confident speaking to people, calm during busy periods, comfortable following scripts and checklists, and able to talk clearly about memberships, prices and next steps.
Main responsibilities
You will help with:
- Welcoming new trial students and parents
- Checking names, forms and attendance
- Helping nervous beginners feel settled
- Explaining what will happen during the trial class
- Speaking to parents before and after class
- Pre-framing that the instructor will speak to them after class
- Helping with membership/admin setup
- Sending follow-up messages to no-shows and undecided trials
- Keeping trial notes accurate
- Supporting a professional, organised front-of-house experience
You must be
- Confident speaking to adults and parents
- Friendly, but not passive
- Organised and reliable
- Calm when several people need help at once
- Comfortable following scripts and checklists
- Comfortable talking about prices, memberships and next steps
- Able to write clear, professional messages
- Able to take ownership without needing constant prompting
This role is not suitable for someone who
- Wants a quiet admin-only job
- Feels uncomfortable talking about prices or memberships
- Needs constant instruction
- Avoids face-to-face conversations
- Is friendly but disorganised
- Struggles to stay calm when it gets busy
- Does not like following systems, scripts or checklists
Hours and pay
Part-time evening role.
Initial shifts likely 2 evenings per week, with potential to grow. Monday and Tuesday evenings.
4.45pm–8:45pm.
£14 per hour starting pay.
