Part-time and full-time hours available
**Minimum one year of kitchen experience required**
Slab Shop Pizzas is looking for two experienced Front & Back of House Team Members to join our team at our Edinburgh site.
This is not a temporary student role or simply something to fill a few spare hours.
We are looking for dependable, committed people who want stable work, take pride in what they do and understand what is expected when working in a busy hospitality environment.
Our Edinburgh site is very much a hands-on, customer-facing operation. Everyone gets involved, everyone supports each other and there is no real divide between "front" and "back" when the site gets busy.
We need people who are comfortable speaking to customers, working in the kitchen, jumping onto whichever area needs support and bringing the right can-do attitude to every shift.
THE ROLE
This is a genuine Front and Back of House position.
You will be responsible for preparing ingredients, building our Detroit-style pizzas, managing busy service periods, serving customers and ensuring every order leaves the site to the correct standard.
Some parts of the shift may be heavily kitchen focused. At other times you may be taking orders, handing food over, speaking with customers or helping keep the front of the site running smoothly.
We are looking for people who are comfortable doing both.
You will be expected to work independently when required, take ownership of your area and contribute properly to the wider team.
The role will include:
- Preparing ingredients and completing daily kitchen prep
- Building and cooking pizzas accurately to specification
- Taking and managing customer orders
- Providing friendly, confident and professional customer service
- Managing both in-house and delivery orders effectively
- Maintaining speed, quality and consistency during busy services
- Keeping kitchen and customer areas clean, organised and fully stocked
- Following food safety, allergen and hygiene procedures
- Completing opening and closing duties
- Supporting stock rotation, deliveries and general site organisation
- Communicating clearly with the rest of the team
- Moving between Front and Back of House depending on what the shift requires
- Taking responsibility without needing to be constantly supervised
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are specifically looking for people who understand how a busy hospitality environment operates.
You must have at least one year of previous kitchen or hospitality experience within restaurants, QSR, takeaway, food production or a similar environment.
Experience is important, but for Edinburgh particularly, personality and attitude matter just as much.
We want someone who fits naturally into the team, is comfortable around customers and brings good energy to the site — but also understands when it's time to get their head down and get the job done.
The right person will be:
- Reliable and punctual
- Friendly, confident and comfortable speaking with customers
- Comfortable working both Front and Back of House
- Comfortable working evenings and weekends
- Calm and organised during busy services
- Confident working independently
- Able to work effectively as part of a small, close-knit team
- Someone with a genuine can-do attitude
- Willing to jump in wherever they're needed
- Committed to maintaining high standards
- Clean, methodical and attentive to detail
- Able to take instruction and follow established processes
- Willing to take responsibility for their work
- Supportive of the people working around them
- Looking for a stable role rather than a short-term stopgap
We want people who fit in with the team, contribute to the atmosphere and enjoy dealing with customers, but who also know when service kicks in that everyone needs to get down to it and pull their weight.
Nobody should need to be chased through a shift.
If something needs doing, we want people who see it, get involved and help get it done.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Consistent working hours for the right people
- Part-time and full-time opportunities
- Company pension
- Staff discount
- Full training on our products, processes and kitchen systems
- Ongoing support and development
- Opportunities to progress as the business grows
- A close-knit working environment where good people and hard work are recognised
