Gallery Assistant
Part-Time | Sundays & Mondays | Glastonbury
Heart of the Tribe Art Gallery is looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Gallery Assistant to join our small team. This role would suit someone with a genuine interest in art, strong people skills, and confidence working independently.
The successful applicant will be lone working every Sunday and Monday from 10:30am – 5:00pm, with additional hours available during exhibition changeovers, events, and holiday cover periods.
Responsibilities
- Welcoming visitors and speaking confidently with customers
- Processing sales and handling transactions
- Packaging artwork safely for collection and postage
- Assisting with hanging exhibitions and gallery changeovers
- Updating website listings and assisting with general website admin
- Creating and scheduling social media content
- Updating spreadsheets and assisting with day-to-day administration
- Providing holiday cover during school holidays
- Occasional Saturday and evening work for exhibition openings and events
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Comfortable working independently and managing the gallery space alone
- Computer literate and confident using online systems
- Organised, reliable, and proactive
- Friendly and professional customer service skills
- Basic knowledge of art or previous experience in retail/sales
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience with Photoshop and/or InDesign
- Interest in curation and exhibition planning
There may be opportunities in future to become more involved with curation and exhibition development as the role progresses.
Pay & Start Date
- Pay starts at National Minimum Wage, with potential increases based on experience and development within the role
- Start date: Early July 2026
