Xcelerate Academy is looking for a confident and reliable GCSE Science Tutor to join our teaching team from September.
This is a weekend-based role at our Derby tuition centre, focused on delivering high-quality KS3 and GCSE Science lessons to small groups of students. The role is ideal for qualified teachers, trainee teachers, or experienced tutors who enjoy clear structure, exam preparation, and helping students make genuine academic progress.
You will be joining a calm, organised and professional tuition environment where lessons are planned with purpose, expectations are clear, and tutors are supported with systems and resources.
Key Responsibilities
As a GCSE Science Tutor, you will be expected to:
- Teach KS3 and GCSE Science to small groups of students
- Deliver clear, structured and engaging lessons
- Support students with exam technique, scientific understanding and confidence
- Cover Biology, Chemistry and Physics content where required
- Follow academy lesson structures, procedures and expectations
- Create a positive, calm and well-managed classroom environment
- Complete basic attendance and session records
- Communicate professionally with the academy team
- Maintain high safeguarding and professional standards
Essential Criteria
Applicants must:
- Hold, or be working towards, QTS, PGCE, or a relevant teaching qualification
- Have experience teaching GCSE Science in schools, tuition centres or small-group settings
- Have experience with AQA, Edexcel or OCR exam boards
- Be confident teaching GCSE Science
- Be able to commute to our Derby location
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Be reliable, punctual and well-organised
- Demonstrate strong classroom management
- Be professional in communication and conduct
