Purpose of Role
We are seeking a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established Facilities Management team supporting one of the UK's largest retail and distribution portfolios.
Based from our Denton office, this role is predominantly office based (approximately 90% of the time) and supports a high-profile contract covering 327 retail stores, UK corporate offices, and 23 distribution centres
Job Description
The contract delivers planned and reactive maintenance services across building fabric and M&E assets, alongside refurbishment, fit-out and upgrade works. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their commercial expertise within a large-scale FM environment.

Commercial Management
- Support the Commercial Manager in the day-to-day commercial management of the contract.
- Assist with preparing budgets, forecasts and financial reports.
- Monitor and manage Work in Progress (WIP) to ensure accurate reporting and revenue recovery.
- Support the preparation and review of monthly Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports.
- Analyse contract performance and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure prompt job closure and accurate client invoicing.
- Assist with the management of contract profitability and financial performance.
Quantity Surveying Duties
- Manage commercial aspects of planned and reactive maintenance projects across a portfolio of approximately 300 retail stores and warehouse facilities.
- Support the delivery of repair works, fit-outs, refurbishment projects and HVAC upgrade programmes.
- Evaluate subcontractor quotations and applications for payment.
- Resolve subcontractor queries and commercial disputes professionally and efficiently.
- Ensure all contractual obligations are met in accordance with company procedures.
Supply Chain & Subcontractor Management
- Draft, issue and administer subcontract agreements.
- Lead regular commercial reviews with subcontractors to monitor performance and compliance.
- Assess and approve subcontractor payment applications, ensuring accuracy and value for money.
- Ensure subcontractor payments are processed in line with contractual agreements and company procedures.
- Develop strong working relationships with the supply chain to support successful project delivery.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure all commercial activities are undertaken in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate commercial records and contractual documentation.
- Support auditing and compliance activities across the contract.
- Ensure adherence to contractual, statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with risk management and the implementation of corrective actions where required.
Essential Qualifications/Skills
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Quantity Surveyor within Facilities Management, Building Services, Construction or Maintenance environments.
- Strong understanding of commercial management principles and subcontract administration.
- Experience managing subcontractor payments, valuations and final accounts.
- Knowledge of cost reporting, WIP management and CVR processes.
- Strong financial and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other commercial reporting tools.
- Full UK driving licence.
