The Department of Health Sciences at the University of York is a leading centre for teaching and research in health, wellbeing, and care. We deliver high-quality, evidence-based education across undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programmes, preparing students for careers in nursing, midwifery, public health, and a range of health-related fields. The Student Services team is at the heart of the Department of Health Sciences student experience, providing responsive, inclusive, and accessible support throughout the student journey. Led by the Department’s Student Services Manager, the team is organised into three functional areas, each managed by a Deputy Student Services Manager:
- Admissions and Student Experience
- Academic Programmes and Assessments
- Placement Allocations and Educational Technology
This particular post will primarily work in the Academic Programmes and Assessments portfolio of Student Services with the understanding that you may be asked to support the other Student Services Portfolios if and when required. You will support the delivery of high-quality, responsive and student-centred administrative services across one or more Student Services portfolio areas.
This is a varied and collaborative position, ideal for someone with comprehensive knowledge of Student and Academic Services within an academic department, whilst demonstrating excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator, capable of building positive working relationships, managing competing, complex priorities, and passionate about working with students. Day-to-day tasks may differ depending on the time of year and team priorities. The role is currently offered as a hybrid of remote and in-office work. The role-holder is expected to be flexible in supporting in-person events and on-campus activities within the role demands.

- Bring experience of extracting and reviewing large datasets, with close attention to detail
- Bring thorough knowledge of administrative processes and procedures gained in a large complex organisation and your excellent IT skills to the role.
- Provide meticulous and high-calibre administrative support to students and staff across a range of activities
- Help deliver a quality, accessible and inclusive service to all stakeholders
- Learn and use a wide range of University systems, policies and processes to support day-to-day student services operations
