Sports Events Manager
£25,000–£40,000 DOE + Bonus | Hybrid (3 days in the office) | Derby
Are you an experienced Events professional looking for a role where you'll take ownership of exciting UK sporting events from concept through to delivery? This is an opportunity to join a growing and collaborative team delivering youth football tournaments, rugby festivals and netball events across the UK.
You'll manage multiple events throughout the year, overseeing planning, logistics, supplier management, budgeting, customer experience and on-site delivery. No two days are the same—you'll work closely with host clubs, suppliers and customers to ensure every event is safe, memorable and professionally delivered, while continually looking for ways to improve and grow the events programme.
What you'll be doing
- Managing the end-to-end delivery of multiple UK sporting events
- Planning logistics, suppliers, accommodation and event operations
- Building strong relationships with customers, host venues and suppliers
- Managing event budgets and ensuring commercial profitability
- Supporting marketing initiatives to maximise event participation
- Leading the on-site delivery of tournaments and resolving issues as they arise
- Identifying opportunities to improve existing events and develop new ones
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in event management, operations or project delivery
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong commercial awareness and budgeting experience
- Confident communication and stakeholder management skills
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to perform under pressure
- An interest in sport is highly desirable, although not essential
What to expect
- Hybrid working – 3 days in the office, 2 from home
- Peak event season runs from March to June, during which you'll be expected to attend approximately 75–80% of weekend events, with time off in lieu provided
- £25,000–£40,000 DOE, plus bonus and commission
