Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Art Therapist to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will utilise creative arts as a therapeutic tool to support individuals facing emotional, behavioural, or mental health challenges. The Art Therapist will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective care plans tailored to each individual's needs.
Responsibilities
- Conduct individual and group art therapy sessions, fostering a safe and supportive environment for clients to express themselves creatively
- Assess clients' needs and develop personalised care plans incorporating art therapy techniques
- Utilise various artistic mediums to facilitate emotional expression, self-awareness, and healing processes
- Maintain accurate documentation of therapy sessions, progress notes, and care plans in compliance with organisational policies
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including psychologists, social workers, and medical staff, to optimise client outcomes
- Stay informed about current developments in art therapy practices and integrate innovative methods into treatment programmes
- Support clients in setting achievable goals and monitor their progress throughout therapy sessions
Skills
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with clients of diverse backgrounds and ages
- Proficiency in IT systems for documentation, scheduling, and communication purposes
- Strong organisational skills to manage multiple cases and maintain detailed records of care plans and progress reports
- Empathy and patience to build trusting relationships with clients facing complex emotional or behavioural issues
- Ability to adapt therapeutic techniques to meet individual client needs and circumstances
- Knowledge of mental health issues, behavioural challenges, or developmental disorders is advantageous but not essential
