Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mobile Plant Fitter to join our team in. This role involves maintaining, repairing, and servicing a variety of heavy machinery including excavators and dumpers. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, with experience in fabrication, welding, and equipment repair. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, contributing to the smooth operation of our mobile plant fleet.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on mobile plant equipment such as excavators and dumpers
- Diagnose faults using schematics and electrical diagrams
- Perform repairs involving welding, soldering, and fabrication techniques
- Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment for assembly and repair tasks
- Replace or repair faulty components to ensure optimal operational performance
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs undertaken
- Assist with the installation of new equipment or modifications as required
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations
- Provide excellent customer service by liaising with operators and clients regarding equipment status
Requirements
- Proven experience in mechanical repair, electrical systems, or equipment maintenance within heavy machinery environments
- Strong knowledge of fabrication, welding, soldering, and schematics interpretation
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and assembly techniques
- Experience working with excavators, dumpers, or similar heavy plant machinery is highly desirable
- Experience of Hitachi, Thwaite, JCB plant is a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in maintenance records
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Valid relevant qualifications or certifications in mechanical or electrical trades are advantageous
- To undertake other service work and repair work to vehicles as and when required.
- Have a Full UK Driving Licence for at least 3 years and have experience driving a 3.5 tonne vehicle (or similar).
- Attention to detail.
- Able to work under own initiative but also a team player.

Pay: £36,000.00-£41,000.00 per year
