Children's Residential Support Worker £34,000 | Cheltenham | 2 Days On, 4 Days Off
Want a residential childcare role that gives you four days off after every two days worked?
I am recruiting Residential Support Workers for a brand-new children's home in Cheltenham, offering a salary of £34,000 per annum and a fantastic 2 days on / 4 days off rota.
This is a great opportunity for someone already working in children's residential care, or somebody with strong experience supporting children and young people who wants to build a long-term career within residential childcare.
You will be joining a specialist provider with a genuine focus on trauma-informed, individualised care. The aim is not simply to manage behaviour. It is to build relationships with young people, understand what sits behind their behaviour and help them feel safe, develop confidence and move forward.
What you will get
£34,000 per annum
2 days on / 4 days off rota
Full-time permanent position
Brand-new children's residential home
Excellent training and development
Opportunity to gain your Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification if required
Clear opportunities to progress within children's residential care
Supportive management team
A role where you can genuinely make a difference to a young person's life
What you will be doing
You will become part of the everyday life of the home, supporting children and young people with everything from education, activities and appointments to developing independence and managing difficult days.
You will build positive relationships, provide consistent boundaries and support young people who may have experienced trauma and significant challenges in their lives.
You will also contribute to care plans, risk assessments and daily records, work closely with colleagues and other professionals and play an important part in maintaining a safe, nurturing home.
Who we're looking for
You don't need to be perfect on paper. What matters is that you are reliable, resilient, emotionally mature and genuinely want to work with children and young people.
Experience in children's residential care would be particularly welcomed, and we would also be interested in hearing from people with relevant experience in areas such as youth work, SEN or other children's services.
A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare / Children and Young People would be an advantage, although candidates willing to work towards the qualification may also be considered.
You must already have the right to work in the UK as sponsorship is not available for this position.
