JOB PROFILE
We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join our professional and dedicated team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering evidence‑based nursing care, supporting residents’ clinical and emotional needs, and maintaining high standards of practice in accordance with NMC guidelines, CQC expectations, and organisational policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Care & Assessments
- Complete comprehensive nursing assessments and develop, review, and evaluate individualised care plans.
- Administer medications safely and accurately, including controlled drugs and infection‑related treatments, following NMC standards and the Home’s Medicines Management Policy.
- Monitor residents for changes in physical, emotional, or cognitive wellbeing and document and escalate concerns promptly.
- Deliver high-quality palliative and end‑of‑life care, ensuring comfort, dignity, and compassionate support for residents and families.
Skin Care, Wound Management & Dressing Changes
- Conduct regular skin integrity assessments, using appropriate risk assessment tools and preventative strategies.
- Manage and monitor wounds, pressure areas, and complex skin conditions, ensuring timely escalation to other health professionals when required.
- Perform dressing changes safely and in accordance with care plans, infection control principles, and clinical best practice.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to reduce avoidable skin breakdown and promote healing.
Leadership & Team Support
- Provide clinical guidance to Senior Care Assistants and Healthcare Assistants, ensuring high standards of care delivery.
- Lead effective handovers and contribute to staff development through mentoring, supervision, and positive role modelling.
Documentation & Digital Systems
- Maintain meticulous and timely records using digital and paper-based systems.
- Ensure all clinical documentation meets legal, professional, and CQC compliance requirements.
- Participate in monthly resident reviews and support multidisciplinary communication.
Communication
- Build positive, respectful relationships with residents, families, colleagues, and external professionals.
- Respond to concerns or queries appropriately and escalate when necessary.
- Attend meetings, appraisals, and reflective supervision sessions as required.
Safety, Training & Compliance
- Adhere to infection control, safeguarding, Health & Safety, and COSHH requirements.
- Report incidents, near misses, and equipment faults promptly.
- Maintain up-to-date mandatory training and participate in ongoing CPD to support NMC revalidation.
- Promote the good name of Queen Alexandra Cottage Homes through professional behaviour, appearance, and practice.

Pay: From £22.00 per hour
