About Us
Lowe Property Care is looking for a reliable and practical Maintenance Operative to join our team. This is a hands-on role supporting the upkeep, safety, and presentation of our properties, sites, equipment, and working areas.
The ideal candidate will be someone who takes pride in their work, can spot and fix issues, and is happy carrying out a variety of general maintenance tasks.
The Role
As a Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for carrying out general repairs, basic maintenance, site checks, surveys, renovations and upkeep duties. You will help ensure properties and work areas remain safe, clean, organised, and well-presented for customers, tenants, staff, contractors, and visitors.
We are a small growing company where no two days will be the same. The successful applicant will be given a company vehicles and there is opportunity for overtime where available.
Key Duties
- Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs across properties and sites
- Complete basic handyman tasks such as painting, decorating, repairs, fixtures, fittings, doors, locks, and furniture
- Carry out routine site inspections and report any hazards, damage, or repair needs
- Keep work areas, storage areas, and external areas tidy and safe
- Support with basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating, electrical works and maintenance tasks where competent
- Complete surveys for jobs
- Assist with moving items, setting up work areas, and general site organisation
- Monitor and report faults with equipment, lighting, facilities, or building areas
- Support health and safety checks and follow company procedures
- Liaise with contractors, customers, tenants, or site contacts when required
- Keep basic maintenance records and update management on completed or outstanding jobs
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Previous experience in a maintenance, handyman, facilities, property, or practical repair role
- Good practical skills and confidence using basic tools
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively
- Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy
- Good attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Basic IT skills to use our systems
- Awareness of basic health and safety
- Physically able to carry out manual tasks, lifting, bending, and working outdoors when required
- Full UK driving license and willing to travel across Essex, London and surrounding areas
- Have the ability to pass an Enhanced DBS (which will be paid for the company if required)
