About the Role:
We are a leading manufacturer of steel lintels, and we are looking for a dedicated and experienced HGV Class 2 Driver to join our team. The HGV/Class 2 Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a Class 2 vehicle (HGV) to deliver goods to various locations across the UK. The role involves ensuring all vehicles are roadworthy, compliant with regulations, and operated in a safe and efficient manner. Drivers will be expected to adhere to all relevant traffic laws, industry standards, and internal procedures.
Health, Safety, and Regulations:
- Follow all health and safety guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to company safety policies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, operational, and environmental standards, including traffic regulations, load security, and transport safety protocols.
- Maintain Digi card systems to record driving times, breaks, and rest periods.
- Abide by All Drivers Regulations and Laws.
Driving & Transport Operations:
- Operate Class 2 HGV vehicles to transport goods to specified destinations, ensuring timely and safe deliveries.
- Conduct vehicle inspections before and after every journey to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy, reporting any faults or issues.
- Adhere to transport regulations and driving hours rules, ensuring compliance with the UK Road Traffic Act and the EU Working Time Directive.
- Ensure that all necessary documentation, including delivery notes and fuel receipts, are completed accurately.
- Secure loads in compliance with company procedures to prevent damage during transit.
Vehicle Compliance & Maintenance:
- Ensure that vehicles are maintained in accordance with legal requirements, including the completion of vehicle checklists and regular servicing.
- Report any maintenance or safety issues with the vehicle immediately to the Operations Manager.
- Ensure the vehicle’s cleanliness and presentation, both internally and externally.
Customer Interaction & Communication:
- Maintain professional relationships with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders, ensuring high levels of customer service.
- Communicate effectively with the transport team regarding delivery schedules, route planning, and potential issues.
- Assist with loading and unloading of goods, as required, ensuring the safe handling of goods.
Administration & Reporting:
- Complete all required administrative tasks, including vehicle inspection logs, delivery paperwork, and timesheets.
- Report any accidents, incidents, or delays to the OperationsManager in a timely manner.
