Cornerstone Children’s Homes Ltd are recruiting for a Deputy Manager in the Shinfield area. We are an established 'Good' children's care provider with an excellent reputation for providing high-quality therapeutic care to children and young people.
Position: Permanent - full time
Hours: 40 hours per week. On-calls are also a part of this role.
Days of work: Monday – Friday. But will include some shift work, that may include weekends and sleep in's.
Job Role:
- To work with vulnerable, and challenging young people by supporting them practically and emotionally and to help them work towards agreed plans for their future
- To be a positive role model, to include high standards of personal presentation for young people and the team
- To encourage young people to develop meaningful relationships and attachments in line with their individual therapeutic plans
- To complete detailed records, write reports and assist with the general upkeep of the home
- To support the Registered Manager in the management and development of the team
- Ensure that policies and procedures of the Home are fully implemented within the home
- Assist with Ofsted inspections, and strive for best outcomes
- Safeguarding the young people in your care - always
- To lead and develop the team with robust team and home development plans
- Ensuring reports are completed in a timely fashion and to a high standard
- To deputise for the Registered Manger in their absence and take the lead responsibility for ensuring best practice and outcomes for the young person in the home
Deputy Manager Requirements:
- Level 3/4 NVQ/Diploma in Residential Childcare / NVQ in Children and Young Peoples Workforce or Social Work Degree or equivalent
- At least 2 years experience of working with young people with emotional & behavioural difficulties in a residential childcare setting
- Caring and Compassionate Nature
- Excellent working knowledge of Quality standards
- Leadership skills and experience of supervising and managing staff, able to motivate and lead staff and colleagues
- Ability to work with young people from all backgrounds and challenges
- Ability to cope with and respond to challenging behaviour in a constructive way, and to lead and enable the team to also do so
- Good communication skills
- Be flexible and able to work hours on a rota system, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and to provide cover when required.
- Full driving licence and own car with insurance is essential
- Be prepared to complete L5 Diploma in Managing Care Services (Paid by company).
The successful applicant will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS disclosure (or be checked against the update service) as part of the vetting and barring process
