The Mill Cafe is a family run business in the centre of the historic town of Bradford on Avon. Established in 2022, we serve hot & cold drinks, alcohol, breakfast, lunch, light bites and a range of cakes.
We have an opportunity for a temporary café team member who is friendly and committed to great customer service and hospitality. It’s also important to be able to thrive in a busy environment, and are proactive.
Previous café experience is not necessary however, a strong ability & keen attitude to learn hospitality and coffee making will be considered.
The job is mainly daytime based however, there may be an occasional evening due to special events.
Minimum of 8 hours a week.
Temporary role until September 2026.
Must be available in August over Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays & have weekend availability (specific working days will be arranged via a shift rota).
Main Duties:
- To provide efficient and friendly front of house service.
- Working in a team.
- Serving orders.
- Clearing tables.
- Washing up.
- Maintaining high standards of hygiene.
- Following café policies and procedures e.g. allergy policy, food hygiene policy, alcohol policy.
- Maintaining a clean and tidy work station.
- Cleaning the café and outside area and completion of paperwork records related to this.
- Checking stock levels.
- Working effectively in a busy environment & maintaining consistent high standard.
- Progression can include the option to prepare hot and cold drinks to a high consistent standard, including the use of the Barista coffee machine.
- Liaising with customers regarding their enquiries and appropriate direction of these (e.g. to the Front of House Manager).
- Cleaning the coffee machine at the end of the day & following guidance on how to complete this.
- Following instruction from the Front of House Manager regarding priorities.
- Undertake appropriate training relevant to the role.
Pay: Up to £12.71 per hour
