Description
The role would suit someone with several years’ experience of working in a tax department in an accountancy practice. ATT/CIOT qualification is preferred but not essential. Salary is dependent upon experience and qualifications. The opportunity exists for the right person to progress, supported by a strong, friendly and experienced tax team. Assistant manager role considered for the right candidate.
We would consider someone who is more personal tax focused or more corporate tax focused.
Key Responsibilities
Providing tax compliance services and advice to a diverse portfolio, comprising mainly family companies and their owners, small businesses and private individuals.
Responsibility for a portfolio of personal and company clients, preparing and submitting tax returns and managing statutory deadlines and other tax compliance matters.
Reviewing tax returns prepared by other members of the tax team.
Engaging in more complex Tax planning and advisory work.
Handling ad hoc client queries.
Key Requirements
Experience with Income Tax, Corporation Tax and Capital Gains Tax. Preferably some experience in other main taxes such as Inheritance Tax and VAT.
The ability to communicate effectively with clients from a variety of backgrounds, both verbally and in writing, as well as in face to face and Teams meetings.
Taking on additional responsibilities and ad hoc tasks as required, including researching various tax matters and assisting in drafting tax advice.
Building strong personal relationships with other members of the tax team and office, and strong client relationships.
Responding quickly and effectively to client requirements.
Strong and up to date tax technical knowledge, and staying up to date with changes in legislation etc.
Good attention to detail and organisation are both essential.
Experienced and capable using tax software and Microsoft Office.
Proactive and enthusiastic attitude.
Additional Requirements
Identifying tax planning opportunities for clients.
Contribute to the development of internal tax department procedures.
Assist with administrative tasks as required.
