Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fire & Security Installation & Commissioning Engineer to join our growing team. This is a key role focused on the installation, commissioning, testing, and handover of fire and security systems across a range of commercial and industrial projects.
You will ensure all systems are installed to the highest standards, fully tested, and compliant with relevant British Standards, legislation, and client requirements. We value technical expertise, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and customer service.

Responsibilities
- Install, commission, test, and hand over fire and security systems, including Fire Detection, CCTV, Access Control, and Intruder Alarms
- Work from design drawings, specifications, and method statements to ensure systems meet project and compliance requirements
- Program, test, and commission systems to achieve full operational performance and compliance with British Standards and client expectations
- Liaise with project managers and internal teams to plan works and meet agreed deadlines
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues during installation and commissioning phases
- Provide system demonstrations and user training to clients during handover
- Accurately complete all commissioning documentation, certificates, and reports
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety requirements on site, including PPE, RAMS, and safe systems of work
- Work collaboratively with engineers, contractors, and site personnel to deliver high-quality results
- Maintain tools, test equipment, and the company vehicle to a high standard
- Assist with the development and mentoring of trainees and junior engineers
Requirements
Essential:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience installing and commissioning fire and security systems, including Fire Detection, CCTV, Access Control, and Intruder Alarms
- Strong technical knowledge of relevant standards, including BS 5839, BS EN 50132, BS EN 50133, and BS EN 50131
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Good understanding of networking and IP-based systems
- Strong communication skills for liaising with clients, colleagues, and other trades
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to pass Full Security Vetting (NPPV2 Full)
Desirable:
- Industry-recognised fire and security qualifications (e.g. FIA Units, manufacturer training)
- Experience with a range of manufacturers’ equipment (e.g. Advanced, Gent, Morley, Hikvision, Paxton, Texecom)
- ECS or CSCS Card
- IPAF and/or PASMA certification
