The Role
As an Accountant at Walton Accountancy, you will be responsible for preparing accounts, tax returns, and supporting clients with their ongoing accountancy needs. You will work with a varied client base, including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accounts and tax returns for clients, including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
- Chase client records and information where required
- Complete bookkeeping, VAT returns, and CIS returns
- Support the onboarding of new clients, including inputting client information onto our systems
- Liaise with HM Revenue & Customs and Companies House to resolve client queries
- Ensure statutory information is accurate and submitted on time
- Participate in and contribute to year-end client meetings
- Provide bookkeeping support and training to clients where needed
- Support the smooth running of the office and wider team
- Manage your own professional development, including any relevant CPD requirements
Relevant Experience and Qualifications
The successful candidate must have experience working in an accountancy practice and be comfortable working with a variety of clients.
A full accountancy qualification is not essential, but we would expect candidates to be either qualified by experience or working towards a relevant qualification.
You should have experience preparing accounts and tax returns for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
Strong relationship skills are essential. We are looking for someone who can build trust with clients and work well with colleagues. For us, being friendly, approachable, and client-focused is just as important as technical ability.
